Spravato is the first FDA approved ketamine medication for treatment resistant depression in adults over 18 years old and is covered by most insurance.

Treatment resistant depression is defined as the failure of three to five oral antidepressant medications. Meaning the patient tried three to five different medications, under the supervision of a qualified provider, for an adequate amount of time and did not see a reduction in symptoms.

How is Spravato administered?

Spravato is a nasal spray, self-administered at the Integrated Psych office under the care of a provider. It is administered twice a week for four weeks or weekly for eight to twelve weeks.

Spravato treatment does require monitoring in our office for two hours before you can return home. You should not be driving or operating any equipment for the remainder of the day after Spravato treatment. For your safety, we require you have someone else drive you to and from your appointments. After a good night’s sleep you can drive and return to normal activities the following day.
