Neuro-Based Treatments

Neuroscience-informed interventions used alongside medication and therapy to target persistent symptoms.

Neurofeedback Treatment Program

How the Program Works

Neurofeedback is a non-invasive training program designed to help individuals learn to better regulate brain activity. The program uses real-time feedback from brain activity to help patients develop improved patterns of brain function.

Neurofeedback may be considered as part of a patient's overall mental health treatment plan for concerns such as attention difficulties, stress, anxiety, mood concerns, sleep difficulties, and other conditions as determined appropriate by the treating provider.

Treatment begins with an initial consultation and evaluation. During this appointment, the provider will review the patient's symptoms, medical history, treatment goals, and individual needs to determine whether neurofeedback may be an appropriate treatment option.

An individualized treatment plan will be developed based on the patient's needs and treatment goals.

Initial Evaluation

Before beginning neurofeedback sessions, the patient may complete an initial assessment to help the clinical team understand their current symptoms, concerns, and treatment goals.

Depending on the treatment protocol, brain activity may be evaluated using specialized neurofeedback equipment.

The information gathered during the evaluation helps the clinical team develop an individualized training protocol.

What to Expect During Treatment

During a neurofeedback session, the patient will be seated comfortably while sensors are placed according to the treatment protocol.

The sensors monitor brain activity and provide information to the neurofeedback system. The patient then participates in activities designed to provide real-time feedback based on their brain activity.

Feedback may be provided through visual, auditory, or other interactive methods.

The patient remains awake and participates in the session throughout the treatment.

A trained staff member will remain available during the session to provide assistance, answer questions, and ensure the equipment is being used appropriately.

Treatment Schedule

The number and frequency of neurofeedback sessions will depend on the patient's individualized treatment plan.

Patients may receive multiple sessions over several weeks or months. The provider or neurofeedback technician will discuss the recommended treatment schedule with the patient before beginning the program.

Consistent attendance is encouraged because neurofeedback is a training process that generally requires repeated sessions.

Treatment plans may be adjusted based on the patient's progress, response, and individual goals.

Progress Monitoring

Patient progress may be monitored throughout the program using clinical assessments, patient feedback, symptom tracking, and other appropriate measures.

The clinical team may periodically review the patient's progress and make adjustments to the neurofeedback protocol when appropriate.

Patients are encouraged to communicate openly with their treatment team about changes they notice, concerns they have, or goals they would like to address.

Patient Safety & Comfort

Neurofeedback is generally considered a non-invasive treatment approach. Patients should notify staff if they experience discomfort, fatigue, headache, dizziness, anxiety, or any other unusual symptoms during or after a session.

Patients should also inform the clinical team of significant changes in medications, medical history, or other relevant health information.

The treatment protocol may be modified or paused when clinically appropriate.

Patient Education & Support

Before beginning treatment, patients will receive education regarding the neurofeedback process, treatment expectations, session schedule, and clinic policies.

Our clinical team will work with each patient to establish realistic treatment goals and monitor progress throughout the program.

Our goal is to provide a supportive, individualized environment where patients can participate actively in their treatment and work toward improved emotional well-being, cognitive functioning, and overall quality of life.
